In love with the idea of being in love Staying in love with one soul Making me act like a fool Falling in love, over and over again Gives me that adrenaline If I get hurt again and again That pain is a gain After all it's the only way I know my heart still beating And for that- I have a story to tell through painting -Karena Dolera 2021

MOON ARROW 1 – (BETRAYAL)

I drew my sword and struck your back, But you didn't counter or attack. You turned around and held me near, Your eyes were filled with pain and fear. You took my hand and made a vow, A pinky promise, then a kiss upon my brow. I dropped my shield, consumed by guilt, On shaky ground, our hope was built. I knew the end of this old story, But took the risk for love and glory. I thought we moved toward something new, While backward I was pushed by you. You walked me slowly to the ledge, Then shoved me off the rocky edge. And as I fell into the deep, You had a final vow to keep. You drew your bow and aimed with art, To sink a thousand arrows in my heart. You left me dead within the night, To hide me from the morning light. A final act of bitter spite, To end my will and dim my sight. But as I gasp for breath again, I swear to never feel this pain. I'll rise above the bitter trend, And ensure our paths forever end. -Karena Dolera 2021

MOON ARROW II – (ADDICTION)

The moon shines through my darkest night. Same as how he lights. My gloomiest sight. As the moon shines bright on the weekdays' night, These arrows fall from the sky On weekends' twilight And pierce through my heart On the weekends' lonely night. I cried, looking for the moon through my window, Wishing it would appear on my night of sorrow. But instead, it's another night Of tears soaking my pillow. When the moon comes back and shines through my night. It takes away the pain, But I'm already feeling insane. How could the moon leave me in the dark When I need its light? And why do these arrows appear whenever the moon disappears? Lost in the dark, I need the moon's light. The moon shares its light With someone else's lonely night And it always happens at weekends' twilight. Now I know why these arrows appear They fall from the sky Whenever the moon disappears. -Karena Dolera 2021

"The world is so loud, and I want my work to be a place where things finally quiet down."

If a painting makes you hang around an extra minute and forget reality for a while, I've done what I set out to do.

ENDLESS THOUGHTS

My mind wanders endlessly through the chambers of my thoughts, Searching for an ending that somehow always gets lost. Each thought opens another door, Only to unlock another floor. I walk through hallways that never seem to end, Where one thought breaks and another begins. I search for silence, a moment of peace, But the echoes in my head never seem to cease. Round and round, I return to where I've been, Replaying the what-ifs again and again. No final door, no ending in sight Just endless thoughts wandering through the night. -Karena Dolera 2021

REST IN PEACE IN MY MEMORIES

I close my eyes and it's you I see, I wish I could set myself free. Free from feeling this misery, You left me with only your memory. Memories where I can't hold back the tears, Teary eyes crying through the years. Last night I wept until they dried, Staring at the dark, wishing you were by my side. One last cry before I say goodbye. Say goodbye before I tell myself a lie: Loving you is painful but beautiful, A masterpiece of emotion, heavy but meaningful. Missing you is the worst. My heart wants to burst I wish our story would never end, But at the end You were not mine to begin. -Karena Dolera 2021

CLOSURE

I never wanted you to chase me or beg for me All I wanted was effort At least make me feel that you mean it When you said you care I was at my peace I was content of being alone and not feeling lonely But then you came and lured me in You wanted me to want you You wanted me to like you You wanted me to love you And I did But all of a sudden you dropped me I was confused and hurt You build an attachment so you can detached? I don't wanna chase you I don't wanna beg for you I already tried to keep you and I feel defeated I even tried to show you my worth and I feel stupid I tried to make an effort to get you back but it seems like you already made up your mind! I LOVE YOU and the biggest gift I can offer is to let you go and let you be Cause this time around I will choose me! -Karena Dolera 2022

WINTER'S MIND, SUMMER'S HEART

Her mind is sharp and winter clear, With logic meant for every ear. Like morning frost on silver glass, She lets no messy feelings pass. Her words are short, her path is straight, She leaves no room for soft debate. A frozen wall, a cooling breeze, She rules her world with quiet ease. But deep inside, beneath the snow, The steady, warming rivers flow. A hidden spark, a golden light, That keeps her tender soul so bright. Though she is crisp and seems so cold, She has a heart of molten gold. The winter mind may hold the line, But summer's soul is her design. -Karena Dolera 2026

IN DELL VAIN

We orbit close, now evermore, Not going in, not out the door. You live your life, and I live mine, But in the dark, our worlds entwine. When things get rough, you are my space, My quiet dell, my hiding space. A knight who holds me safe and tight, To protect me through the darkest night. And when we touch beneath the light, Time stops, and we just dance all night. But having you is just a dream, A fleeting, vain, and phantom gleam. Deep down inside, the truth is true: I am afraid to say I love you. I bury it so it won't show Because I'm scared to let you go. I know I'm not the one you seek, Just someone you call when life looks bleak. My heart still aches because I see I'm just your backup guarantee The one you always run to find, When your whole world falls from behind. You look for love, but miss my spark, I love you silently, deep in the dark. I wish you'd turn around and finally see, All of these years, you were looking past me. -Karena Dolera 2026
A PLACE TO BREATHE
A PLACE TO BREATHE

A PLACE TO BREATHE

Sometimes I want to fade away, Not forever just for today. To go somewhere where I am new, With no one asking what I do. I'm tired of the "brave" and "strong," Of acting like there's nothing wrong. I'm tired of the painted smile, I'd like to rest a little while. I feel so much, but stay so still, Climbing up this lonely hill. I'm tired of the smiling game Keep me out of every frame, I just want peace without a name. A place to cry, a place to be, Where I can breathe and just feel free. I'm not giving up or losing touch, I've only held too much, for too long. I need a break, a quiet shelf, From all the world, and from myself. -Karena Dolera 2026
CRY AWAY YESTERDAY

CRY AWAY YESTERDAY

Do not be frightened if you break, Some burdens ask too much to take. If tears should find your weary eyes, Do not resist them, let them rise. For every drop that leaves your face Returns a little borrowed space. The weight you carried, year by year, Grows lighter with each silent tear. No storm has ever claimed the sky, Even the darkest clouds drift by. The rain will leave without a sound, And peace will slowly settle down. One day you'll search the hurt you've known, And find its roots have finally gone. You'll speak its name without the ache, As rivers lose the storm they take. -Karena Dolera 2026

Written for the people who were taught that crying is a weakness, so they learned to carry everything in silence.

MOON ARROW III — (REAWAKINING)

I wandered for years, adrift and alone, Far from the sorrow the evening had shown. But I fell into traps more hollow and cold Than any dark secret the moon could withhold. The moon looked down on my broken frame. He stayed. He settled. He called my name. With his quite light, he pulled me through The suffocating dark I thought I knew. In my lowest hour, he found where I lay, Turning my midnight to soft-silver day. He offered his glow so the shadows would flee, Pulling the darkness away from me. Now, stripped of my shame, I dance in his sight, Bathed in the grace of his shimmering light. He watches me move, unburdened and true. Claiming he finds his own joy in me, too. Wrapped in his warmth as the heavy world fades, I crave the fierce power that heals and invades. -Karena Dolera 2026
